Description

The Samoyed were bred for hard work in the coldest habitable places on earth. Their name comes from the Samoyedic people (also Samodeic people), a semi-nomadic people from Asia who migrated to Siberia a thousand years ago. In the Siberian town of Oymyakon, the temperatures often were minus 60 degrees. To get through these artic nights the Samoyede huddled for warmth with their dog packs. This type of human-canine interaction forged a tight bond between the Samoyed dogs and people.

This canine companion, because of his frequent barking is like a motivational coach, encouraging the people he loves to run, fetch, bike, hike, and play many games throughout the day. These dogs are eager for connection and should be introduced to all the members of the family—children, cats, and other dogs—at an early age. These artic dogs with their shockingly white fur (their coats come in colors of cream or white) are known as “Smiling Sammies” for their short snouts and upturned mouth. The mouth, lifted to keep icicles from forming at the corners, creates a naturally amusing expression. A Sammie loves its family and snuggling.
